The car engines do seem a little more finiky to tune though, I use my temp gauge and my ear and it seems to work good. I'm pretty good at tuning, I'm a long time airplane and heli flier, but I just started running the cars. It started right up and once I got it tuned, it runs great now, so I think I'll stick with this one til it dies. At least I now have a very clean engine, it has good compression and everything looks good inside. I found the problem though, the one way bearing on the backplate was seezed! I made a trip to the LHS and they had one, I put it on and I'M BACK IN BUSINESS! When I was trying to start it, it was dragging the EZ-Start along and would not run. Some more advice: Don't get pissed off at your truck- it's a simple machine, just back off and leave it alone till you calm down and try again. Once it fires over, Tighten the LSN 1/12 of a turn clockwise (leaner). If motor still doesn't fire, adjust the LSN (in the middle of the carb slide arm) counterclockwise slowly while cranking. If motor acts like it wants to start, pull the throttle linkage so the carb opens.Ĥ.
Blip the EZStart button for a second at a time, watching for air bubbles in the fuel line to the carb. Once you have fuel going to the carb, connect the glow ignitor to the glowplug.ģ. Put your finger over the exhaust stinger and crank the motor over with the EZStart until you see fuel going thru the line into the carb.Ģ. Got a freshly charged battery in your EZStart and a glow starter? Disconnect the blue wire from the glow plug and use the glow ignitor. Got fuel going to your carb? Needles set to factory break-in specs? Got good compression? Now, take your air filter off and make sure your slide is open 1mm or so. 4 things are necessary to get a nitro engine fired. Let's look at your problem again and see what we can do to get it fired up. But first, go thru the learning curve and get comfortable with tuning your 3.3 before going with an aftermarket motor.
